Accessorize has been delighting customers with beautifully fashionable accessories since 1984. Blass has worked with the brand since 1993 when together with sister brand Monsoon, the company was just 20 stores strong. Today the business boasts more than 1,000 stores globally and continues to grow with Blass actively involved in both UK and international expansion.
Two recent projects include the new Accessorize at Heathrow Terminal 5 where we worked on the concept and all implementation including architectural as well as airport compliance documents. Applying a neon Union Jack to the ceiling and stacking suitcases beneath the product presentation tables both draws on the UK heritage and firmly embeds it into its travel retail location, an important differentiator for the airport when awarding these coveted sites.
At 324 Oxford Street the building needed to be totally remodelled, including moving the stairs. We delivered a strongly architectural design solution, modelling the whole building in 3D to show how it would work on a practical level, consulting with structural engineers on removing ground and first floor slabs. Clearly demarcating the different departments was achieved through clever signage and a backdrop of witty and captivating graphics while installing a lift made it possible to house the children’s range – cosily and accessibly - in the basement.
In addition we assisted with production, drawing on Clive’s background as a furniture designer to help the team create pieces for the stores by producing workshop drawings and supervising manufacturing.
